《解説》「織部好みは大胆で奇抜なところが特徴ですが、すごいなと思うのが、織部がそれを一貫した感覚で様式として確立したことです。茶陶の長い歴史のなかで、いろいろな様式が流行りすたりしてきましたが、織部については現在にいたるまで揺るぎない形式を保っています。それは、織部が土や釉薬から自然の美しさを引き出すことができたからだと思っています。」
柳下さんは、志野や織部も焼く。だからそれもありかと思っていたが、この企画では、はじめから念頭にあったのが井戸だったようだ。織部好みといえば、形式も色彩もどんどん加えていくイメージが先行する。過剰であることがその代名詞とさえいっていい。だが、作家はこれと正反対の織部を選んだ。一面「チャラい」ところのあるその要素をそぎおとしたところに残る織部とは？。柳下さんは、それを土と釉薬だけのありのままの姿に求めた。それが井戸という様式であり、その究極にあるのが「老僧」だった。井戸のスタンダードからすれば、確かに、「老僧」は暴れている。その荒ぶれ様を、柳下さんのこの作品はしっかりと受けとめている。

《老僧(Rousou)》There are many ido tea bowls that Oribe loved, but the "Rousou"(old monk) is especially famous. This bowl, which Hideyoshi loved, was inherited and named "Old Monk" by Oribe. They say that the signature “老僧” on the box which contains it was written by Oribe himself. It features a large pedestal, rough potter's wheel trace, and finely cracked glaze. It is introduced as a small (old) ido, but actually is a large bowl with a scale comparable to that of a large ido. Mr. Yanagishita kept the features in mind when creating this sake cop. You can feel that on the pedestal and finely cracked glaze, and you can see especially that he captures the intensity of the original bowl even more violently from the strength of the potter's wheel trace.

《老僧(Rousou)》Il y a beaucoup de bols à thé “ido” qu'Oribe aimait, mais le "Rousou(vieux prêtre)" est particulièrement célèbre. Ce bol, qu'aimait Hideyoshi, a été hérité et nommé "Rousou" par Oribe. On dit qu'il a écrit lui-même le signature “老僧” de la boîte qui le contient . Il comporte le grand piedestal, la trace du tour de potier et l'émail finement fissuré. Il est présenté comme un petit (vieux) ido, mais en réalité est un grand bol avec une étendu comparable à celle d'un grand ido. M.Yanashita a gardé cela à l'esprit lors de la création de cette coupe à sake. On peut non seulement le sentir sur le piedestal et l'émail finement fissuré, mais voir qu'il comprend l'intensité du bol original, en entendant la grosse trace du tour de potier.
